This workshop helps public servants understand what it means to honour the Treaty in their roles, and provides foundational knowledge of the Māori Crown relationship that is essential context for contemporary engagements. It is suitable for all levels and roles within the public service.

Description

Beginning with who signed the Treaty and why, a series of case studies highlights areas where the Crown has fallen short of its Treaty commitments and the effects on Māori. Through learning about the significance of land, the power of protest, and the Crown’s changing understanding of the Treaty and redress, participants will gain perspectives about how the Māori Crown relationship has changed over time.
